Did you know ?
Welsh Terriers were once used to hunt badgers, which explains their hardiness, but they are no strangers to comfort, either. British prime minister Clement Attlee had one when he was in office after WWII. Not forgetting Charlie, who was one of JFK’s four-legged companions.
Welsh terriers are affectionate, obedient and easy to control. These naturally cheerful dogs are full of life and rarely timid. Game and fearless, but without a drop of bad blood, they are always able to hold their own whatever the circumstances.

In their homeland, Welshies are regarded as members of one of the oldest terrier breeds. These working dogs have great potential in many different disciplines, including hunting, retrieving and of course turning badgers out of their lair. They do require a firm hand in the home, as they like to lord it over others if given half a chance.Often confused with Airedales and even black and tan Fox Terriers, Welshies are more strapping than either. They are the very embodiment of the word “cobby” – short-bodied, square-shaped, muscular and powerful. They are generally made for a working life, although some Welsh Terriers do experience the whirl of the show rings.
